A sonnet for the earth

The theme of the sonnet is that the poet of "A sonnet for the earth" dedicates a sonnet for the earth. The clues that gave away the theme is the title and lines from the sonnet. For example, "That are my grass and flowers and am content. Or if in flight my wings should beat so far From the kind of grass that is so cool and deep."This apply to my own life because there are things in a nature that make the earth a great place to live in. I could connect to this poem to Shakespear because he writes his sonnets with felling and strong emotions. The person who wrote this sonnet is also having the same feeling Shakespear had.

"Still I Rise" by Maya Angelo

The theme of the poem is to be perseverance. She is leaving the bad things from the past and moving on by rising up. The clues that gave away the theme was "You may write me down in history With your bitter twisted lies You may trod me in the very dirt But still like dust I'll rise." This connects to me own life because when someone makes fun or hurts me something that got in the way in my past life I look forward and rise up.

Sarah Cynthia Syliva Stout would not take out the Garbage out

The example of hyperbole I found in the poem is "She simply would not take the garbage out. So it piled up to the ceiling." The poet is saying that she have not taken out the garbage in a long time that a huge piled formed. The poet used hyperbole this way because the poet is exaggeration saying that the garbage becomes a huge pile if don't take it out. He wanted to tell that taken out the garbage should often.

Hyperbole of my dog

The examples of hyperboles I found in the poem is exaggerating saying that her girl has a big mouth like her dog. And she said "Little girl is a dog she sleeps like a dog. The poet use hyperbole this way because she wanted to exaggerate saying her baby girl has characteristics of a dog. Or it could be the opposite way. She could be talking about her dog acting like her baby. Or she could be comparing them together, like their personality.

Braver

The mood of this poem is that the poet is feeling bord. She goes through the same routine over again she wants to change something in her life. I know because in the poem it says"A variation of the boring outfit I wear every single day."The poet wrote this poem with this mood because she want change in her life. She want something different and exciting.

Bronx Masqurade

I can infer that the poem Chankara wrote refer to her sister because she had an experience her sister had. Her sister's boyfriend always beat her up. But it happened to Chankara and she does not want to end up like her sister. The best word that helps what the poet is felling is sympathy. She knows and feels what her sister went through and she does not want it to happen to her. The meaning of this poem is that Chankara does not want to feel the pain her sister felt. I think the message is to stand of your self. Have someone who has consideration for you not one who abuses you.

Poetry Response: Bronx Masquerad

What I think of the characters so far is that they expressed there feelings and their past experiences about their life. I can infer that this poem is expressing the feeling Wesley is feeling about how black people are being treated. I can infer that Wesley wrote this poem because he feels the same way that happened Langston Huge. What their poetry reveals about Wesley is that he thinks everyone should be equal and follow there own dreams no matter what color or race you are. The word that best describe how the poet is feeling is that black people should have equal rights. For example, in his poem he wrote "that we blacks folks be good at fanning hope and stroking the fires of dreams deferred."

"Stopping by the Woods on a snowy Evening"

The mood this poem creates is that the poet is tired. Other poetic devises Frost uses in the poem is repetition. He repeated the same line at the end of the poem because, he wanted to make it powerful trying to get the point across saying that he really wants to go to sleep. I can infer that Frost is a tired man because in the poem it says "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promised to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. I know because of the words he expressing are deep. I can connect with his feelings because when I am in school for a long period of time, I get tired.

"I have hands like my dad"

The inferences I can make about this poem is that the boy is proud that he has hands like his father. The words that best describe what the poet is feeling is pride. I think pride is the best word describes how the boy is feeling because in the poem for example, he says "I have hands like my dad, with the way he treats me, and how I want to treat my kids, with only my hands, I have hands like my dad." He describe how his hands are like his dad and how they are alike.
